Turning every recipe into a hands on learning experience (even if you’re not a teacher!)

After spending 100’s of hours using recipes with kids, I’ve created a real-life way to practice reading, while growing the important life skill of cooking.
A 5-year-old confidently made pizza pinwheels pretty much independently.

This is the exact breakdown of what goes into each recipe and what makes these visual recipes so special.

So simple, right? I did all the heavy lifting to make the recipes work for even the earliest of readers — all you have to do is print them out!
Teachers, like Miss Mabel, love that the recipes are tiered to meet their students' reading level.

Nicola's girls loved the illustrations so much they asked to make the recipe twice in one week.

These recipes will work for these children and families. If you fit one of these, this will be great for you.
The recipes also work with bigger groups of children. Inside there is help with:
What I've learnt from using recipes with kids in a classroom and with my own kids is that although we're told "recipes are great for kids reading" and "they can learn so many skills from cooking," even kids recipes are not broken down enough for them to follow.

They're either completely made up of pictures or the other extreme, with sentences like "pour in the dry ingredients." For a 5-year-old that's a lot of brain power to work out.
So that's why these are recipes kids can truly read — with phonics practice built in and every single step being one action.
They're not just recipes for kids, but powerful real-life learning resources.
After spending hundreds of hours using recipes with kids, I've created a real-life way for your kids to grow:
Cooking: a practical life skill that builds independence
Reading: a real reason to read — not just because it's 'reading time'
Maths: fractions, measuring, counting and time in real life
Thinking: sequencing, planning and following instructions
Confidence: the pride that comes from saying “I made that!”
That's what makes these recipes different.
They aren't recipes just adapted for children — they are recipes designed around how children learn.
Another family uses the recipes as a resource to support learning English.
